Paint calculator
Enter the wall area you want to paint and the number of coats — get the litres needed and the material cost, at rates tuned to your state.
How it works
One litre of emulsion covers roughly 130 sq ft per coat. So litres = area × coats ÷ 130. We then multiply by the per-litre rate for your state.
- Interior emulsion and exterior paint are priced separately.
- Add a primer/putty coat for fresh plaster — that's extra.
- Rates auto-adjust to the current year, by state.
Paint Calculator FAQ
How much paint do I need for 1000 sq ft of wall?›
About 15–16 litres for two coats (1000 × 2 ÷ 130 ≈ 15.4 litres) of interior emulsion.
Does this include primer?›
No — it sizes the top-coat paint. Budget a separate primer/putty coat on fresh plaster.
