Sand Calculator

Enter your pour size and grade to estimate the sand quantity in cubic feet, cubic metres and tonnes.

How the sand calculator works

Sand is the middle figure in the cement : sand : aggregate ratio. We take the dry volume (wet × 1.54) and keep sand's share, then convert to cubic feet and tonnes.

Approx. sand per m³ of concrete

GradeRatioSand (cft / m³)
M151 : 2 : 4~16.6 cft
M201 : 1.5 : 3~14.8 cft
M251 : 1 : 2~13.6 cft

Sand bulks with moisture — buy with a small margin and check delivery measure on site.

Sand calculator FAQ
How much sand is in 1 m³ of M20 concrete?
Roughly 0.42 m³ (about 14.8 cubic feet) of sand per cubic metre of M20 concrete.
What is the density of sand?
Dry sand is about 1,600 kg/m³ (1.6 tonnes). It varies with moisture and grading.
River sand or M-sand?
Both work for concrete if they meet grading and silt limits. M-sand (manufactured) is widely used where river sand is restricted.
