How the sand calculator works
Sand is the middle figure in the cement : sand : aggregate ratio. We take the dry volume (wet × 1.54) and keep sand's share, then convert to cubic feet and tonnes.
- Sand volume = dry volume × (sand part ÷ total parts)
- Cubic feet = sand volume (m³) × 35.31
- Tonnes = sand volume (m³) × ~1.6 (dry bulk density)

River sand or M-sand?›
Both work for concrete if they meet grading and silt limits. M-sand (manufactured) is widely used where river sand is restricted.
